Instruments of Chaos starring Young Indiana Jones

And you thought Earnest Evans was bad

Genre: action - hack n slash

Publisher: Sega

Year: 1994

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 0

Gameplay Notes:

Hilariously bad controls. You've got two attacks, your bullwhip and a gun. You also have some grenades. All attacks have a 2 seconds animation and enemies move way too fast so you always get hit and the knock back is unbelievable. Touching anything sends you flying halfway across the screen. The bullwhip is ambitious but unbelievably terrible to use. And every time you do the game slows down to an absolute crawl. The best strategy is to just hop hop hop over all enemies and avoid combat as much as possible. I'm going to call this game unplayable. I don't know why anyone would even attempt it.

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

You can choose from one of five missions right off the bat. They all work about the same. Go to the right. Try to stay alive. The have a few gimmicks in each level like the wind in the Egypt stage which blows you back. Think Ninja Gaiden 2 stage 2-2 but if the wind blew for about 30 seconds straight. India has you using your whip to grab and climb up to 5 pixel platforms while flying enemies infinitely spawn and swarm you. Yeah, safe to say I hate all these levels.

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

Ooh it's Indiana Jones! Oh, nevermind, it's Young Indy.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

The character models are ok but everything else is pretty bad. Backgrounds are spartan. Slowdown is constant. Animation is good for your attacks but terrible for everything else.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

I'm done talking about this game
