Killer Instinct

Unbreakable 10 hit combo!

Genre: fighting - 1v1

Publisher: Nintendo

Year: 1995

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Responsive controls SF2 controls but with the L and R buttons as the weakest attacks MK-style finishing moves All about stringing together long combos which doesn't speak to me at all. Basically the name of the game is to stun lock your opponent and avoid having that done to you. This makes the learning curve too steep for me taste

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Thank you for including a Practice mode! Tournament mode

Theme Score: 2

Theme Notes:

Mortal Kombat clone in terms of the setting. Not my cup of tea. Takes itself way too seriously

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Impressive, but ugly graphics. Prerendered characters haven't aged well. They look choppy and weird compared to hand drawn art from other fighting games. The backgrounds are so dark and foreboding.

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

Epic music. Not my jam but it gets the blood pumping Sound effects are also nice with lots of metal clashing and loud thumps

Overall Score: 61

Review ID: 271
