Kirby's Dream Land 3 for SNES
Review #280
Kirby's Dream Land 3
Kirby: the dark years
Gameplay
Slower gameplay than Kirby Super Star
Controls are much less responsive as well. Changing direction mid-jump is very slow and unreliable.
Linear progression
Baffling objectives. There are flowers that you're supposed to not crush but the game gives you no indication that this is desired. And your blue blob companion walks right over them so not sure how to achieve this while using a companion.
Level Design
Levels are ok. They make use of different abilities but it's difficult to get the right one. You can pretty much just go to the right.
Theme
It's Kirby
Art Style
I might take some flack for this, but I hate the arty style of this game. Everything is a pastel color that is washed out, like a a billboard that has been sitting out in the sun for 15 years.
Sprites are tiny and their designs are boring when compared to any other Kirby game that I can think of.
The hud takes up 1/3rd of the screen.
Audio
Good but sub-part for the Kirby series
