Neutopia for TurboGrafx-16

Neutopia

Would Zelda by any other name smell as sweet?

Genre: adventure - overhead

Publisher: NEC

Year: 1990

System: TurboGrafx-16

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

It's The Legend of Zelda. A straight up carbon copy. Everything is replicated, including the controls, the menu, the items, the currency, the structure, and the enemies. This dev team has zero unique ideas in their head. It's it as good as the original LoZ? No, but it's still a decent game. But just like LoZ it hasn't aged very well. The biggest problem is the 4 direction movement and attack that points straight forward. This makes it hard to hit enemies who can move in any direction.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Again, carbon copy of Zelda but without some niceties. Far less puzzle solving.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Cute, fun world to explore. Although I can't help but wish I was playing Zelda instead

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Lovely

Audio Score: 3
