PGA Tour Golf

Putt putt putt golf

Genre: sports - golf

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Year: 1991

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

All hits are basically about how close you hit the second tap. Even small decisions from the center line send the ball way off course. Thankfully the cursor is easy to read. It move quite fast which makes it hard to hit at just the right spot. I generally can't do anything better than 3 putt on nearly every hole. It requires unbelievable accuracy. Give me a little slack guys! The entire game is just so unforgiving. One nitpick is the long load times after every hit and menu.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Game modes include Tournament, Practice Round, Driving Range, and Putting Green. The holes are ok I guess but only the greens have verticality.

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

Do you like Windows 3.0? I sure hope so because this game uses the same windows based UI. It's kind of funny to see in a console game but also very bizarre to open menus and see popup windows appear all over the place. Weird. Various pros give advice before each hole.

Art Style Score: 1

Art Style Notes:

Colorful graphics. Looks like an MS-DOS game. The game animates horribly with a crappy framerate. The 3D model of the green is laughably slow rendering.

Audio Score: 1

Audio Notes:

No music and virtually no sound. Bring your own tunes.

Overall Score: 30
