Gameplay

What a surprise! It's a run-n-gun adventure game similar to Metroid.
Movement is great. You've got a nice tall jump and responsive controls. You also have a grappling hook right off the bat. Tons of seasons to pick up along the way like a spread shot, homing missiles, and a boomerang.
The only real problems are your huge sprite makes you an easy target. Enemies don't have collision so you can walk right through them. Most don't damage you directly but the bosses do so they can destroy you quickly. You have almost no i-frames as well.
However it lacks a map. That's probably it's main downside. Bring a walkthrough I suppose.

Level Design

Overworld let's you pick your next level. The levels themselves are mazesv and there's no map so you kind of just wander aimlessly. Would be a stone cold classic of this had Super Metroid quality level design.

Theme

Not your grandpa's Phantom. Yes he's a dork wearing a purple leotard but the story is straight out of Terminator or RoboCop. Good stuff.

Art Style

Really nice graphics. Enemy sprites are robots straight out of Terminator. Easily identifiable platforms and enemies and projectiles. Strong visual language for when you and enemies take damage. Good stuff all around.

Audio

Music is upbeat and pumping stuff with more air guitar than I care for. The sounds are not great though. Shooting your gun sounds especially wimpy. Overall the sound is good, just not my jam.
