Great controls. Not much drifting necessary as your car grips well enough. Make tight turns by easing off the gas. Very forgivable hit detection on environmental hazards. Large field of opponents. You can turbo and punch left or right.

Super short laps like Mario Kart. Great variety in the settings. They even have a rumble mode (battle) and a soccer game! Too bad soccer is truly awful. Rocket League this ain't

Mario Kart with a random assortment of weird characters. There's Frankenstein's Monster, E. Honda, Santa Claus, Pamela Anderson, and a bunch of others. It's eclectic and not very appealing.
