Gameplay

Great controls. Not much drifting necessary as your car grips well enough. Make tight turns by easing off the gas.
Very forgivable hit detection on environmental hazards.
Large field of opponents.
You can turbo and punch left or right.

Level Design

Super short laps like Mario Kart. Great variety in the settings.
They even have a rumble mode (battle) and a soccer game! Too bad soccer is truly awful. Rocket League this ain't

Theme

Mario Kart with a random assortment of weird characters. There's Frankenstein's Monster, E. Honda, Santa Claus, Pamela Anderson, and a bunch of others. It's eclectic and not very appealing.

Pretty remarkable graphics actually. Incredible animation. Incredible framerate.

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk. There's an optional Active Battle System and an innovative Single and Team techniques system. No grinding necessary. An assortment of sidequests and minigames like the actions you take at the Millennial Fair which influence how the trial plays out. One thing that I greatly appreciate is that you are never alone in a one-character party. You are joined by 3 other playable characters within the first hour of play.
