Super Smash TV for Genesis
Review #4569
Super Smash TV
This is not the version you are looking for
Gameplay
Somewhat playable on a three button controller but a far cry from the SNES button layout. Here the A button shoots whichever way you face, B shoots the opposite direction, and C locks in a place allowing you to strafe. An understandable compromise but not remotely as good.
Enemy patterns are less predictable and seem to be nerfed.
Weapon powerups last for only a couple of seconds. The game just seems like a shadow of the arcade and SNES classics
Level Design
Room-based design gives a moment of rest and clear objective
Branching paths add replayability
Level select would be nice since it is kind of a one-trick pony - all rooms look the same
Theme
Running Man setting is pretty great
M.C. is quotable but barely says anything in this version.
Worst virtual boobs of all time
Art Style
Far less interesting to look at than the SNES version.
Animation reduced.
Colors are ok but darker and less vibrant
Audio
Music is also far worse than on SNES.
Sounds are garbled with poor quality and far less frequent digitized voice samples.
