Super Street Fighter II for SNES

Super Street Fighter II

Cammy. And a killer opening animation.

Genre: fighting - 1v1

Publisher: Capcom

Year: 1994

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 4

Gameplay Notes:

Same game as before although you can't pick a speed

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Tons of modes. The usual story and versus modes plus a couple of different types of Tournaments for parties plus a time challenge mode for speedrunners. I couldn't care less about any of these but someone probably enjoyed them.

Theme Score: 5

Theme Notes:

Presentation is kicked up a notch with a demo reel that shows dossiers of each fighter and the best home menu animation of all time.

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Wow Cammy is 100% fan service. Somebody get that girl a pair of shorts. I feel like they traded resolution on the sprites for more frames of animation. The art just doesn't look as clean as the original game.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

The sound takes yet another step back. The music lacks any bass which makes it sound tinny and hollow. The sounds got way worse as well. The thumping hits are replaced by what sounds like crumpling a paper bag. Oh and the voices are absolutely atrocious. Poor Guile's "sonic boom" sounds like a total nerd. Even the composition of the tracks has been altered to be less interesting than the first game. Just lame y'all
