Super Strike Eagle
Air Combat 0.9Genre: simulation - flight
Publisher: Micropose
Year: 1993
System: SNES
Gameplay Score: 2
Gameplay Notes:
Plays like a dumbed down version of Air Combat for PS1. Best dogfighting I've seen on SNES. Use tight turns, speed, loops and rolls to evade enemies and get behind them. Switch to overhead view for bombing runs. Not as good, like a faster version of Pilotwings' helicopter levels but with much, much worse graphics.
Level Design Score: 2
Level Design Notes:
Open world maps let you choose your targets. Impossible to tell what your targets are, unfortunately so you pretty much just fly into whatever you can find. I wish there was a map showing your targets.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
Your goal is being countries back into the UN by blowing them up I guess. How very kind of you. Real settings like Libya
Art Style Score: 1
Art Style Notes:
Pretty bad. Some nice sprite scaling and ok but not great framerate. The in cockpit view is by far the best looking. The overworld view is laughably bad and the bombing levels have very low resolution.
Audio Score: 1
Audio Notes:
Forgettable music. Nice sounds
