Time Killers
Who let Black Pearl make a fighting game?!Genre: fighting - 1v1
Publisher: Black Pearl Software
Year: 1996
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 0
Gameplay Notes:
The game plays fast enough, but the hit detection is absolutely terrible and I have no idea how to perform any special moves. I couldn't figure out anything. The hit detection alone makes this game almost unplayable but a very low frame rate seals the deal.
Level Design Score: 2
Level Design Notes:
No modes. Just story. And there's none of that.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
This is basically the same premise as Eternal Champions. A bunch of Warriors from different planets or time frames or something are gathered together.
Art Style Score: 1
Art Style Notes:
I don't want to be too harsh on the artwork, but it's pretty silly. The designs seem almost cartoony like they're made for a children's game, but the gimmick of the game is the gore. Sometimes an opponent's arm or leg will fall off and they'll be spurting blood for the rest of the match. The damning aspect of the artwork is that the animation is incredibly poor. The game runs at a very low frame rate. The whole package just seems off.
Audio Score: 0
Audio Notes:
Hahahaha this is some of the worst sound ever in a video game. The sounds themselves are generic beeps and boops which sound nothing like you would expect in a bone crushing fighting game. If you blindfolded someone and asked them what type of game you were playing they might tell you that you're playing an educational game. It's so so bad. The music is also crazy bad. It's like someone hitting three notes on an eight key keyboard without any rhyme or reason to which notes they hit..
