Tom & Jerry: Frantic Antics!

Plays better than it looks

Genre: action - platform

Publisher: Hi-Tech Expressions

Year: 1993

System: Genesis

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Basically no way to attack or defend yourself. Enemies move too fast to be avoided reliably. Typical licensed garbage controls. Massive draw distance problems - maybe 40% going right but 30% going left

Level Design Score: 0

Level Design Notes:

No. Just no. As bad as any THQ game. Go right and try your best to not get hit by enemies with no hit voices and awful hit detection. Reminds me of Beethoven on SNES.

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

Everybody likes Tom & Jerry, right?

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

NES++ graphics Well-drawn sprite of Tom, but very basic, two frame animation. Enemy sprites are poorly drawn, flat and side-on with minimal animation. Backgrounds are devoid of detail as well.

Audio Score: 1

Audio Notes:

Simplistic, single channel music with annoying chirp sounds. Generic sound effects that don't sound like anything from the cartoon.

Overall Score: 19

Review ID: 1338
