Cosmo Police Galivan II: Arrow of Justice

Power Rangers x Sonic Blast Man

Genre: action - beat em up

Publisher: Nichibutsu

Year: 1993

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Enemies zip around and attack almost constantly. Bad hit detection. Hard to get on the right plane as enemies. Works best to be slightly above everyone. The worst AI ever. They don't come for you but instead find a spot to zip around in and you have to go to them. I knocked an enemy off screen and waited over 30 seconds for him to come into view so I could finish him off. Technical combat that plays more like a 1v1 fighter. No grabs or throws makes it difficult to take on groups of enemies. Weird attacks. Y jumps, which is unnatural. B is a low kick that rarely connects and has a long animation. A is a fast punch with short range and also performs a jump kick while jumping. Yeah, the punch button does the jump kick. The kick button does nothing while in the air, in case you were wondering. Three playable characters. Very slow movement. Double tap to run but this zooms you super fast and the screen doesn't scroll with you. You're vulnerable while dashing so it's basically useless.

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

What design? Every stage I saw was featureless. There were no stage elements to interact with

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

The vibe is basically Power Rangers x Sonic Blast Man. It's fine

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Huge sprites and pretty but empty and boring backgrounds. Still, the visuals are easily the selling point here.

Audio Score: 0

Audio Notes:

Horrible music. I can't emphasize this enough. Truly awful compositions. They sound like someone randomly banging on two notes. The sound effects are ok, such as they are, but the music is so bad you should mute the game.

Overall Score: 26
