Doraemon 4: Nobita to Tsuki no Oukoku

Gameplay
Decently responsive platforming controls. Even the run button returns after disappearing in Doraemon 3. You've got projectiles or can jump on enemies. You get a generous amount of health too, making the game quite easy.
My major nitpicks are questionable hit detection and enemies that take multiple hits...sometimes. Inexplicably, the same enemy can take one, two, or even three hits. They get i-frames for about one second and move and shoot aggressively so you have to get the exact right timing on your second and third shots, or keep your distance while fighting them. This cause the game to be a slog where you slowly move to the right, fighting enemies from a distance.
Level Design
Set up like a proper Mario clone with a linear overworld and traditional platforming levels with plenty of collectables.
That said, the second level is an autoscroller shmup so there's some variety in the levels themselves.
Theme
Not that it needs it, but there's an English translation patch for this game!
Art Style
The visuals aren't incredible but I enjoy the cartoony cast of characters. The game looks rather flat, however this gives it a perfectly understandable visual language for platforms, enemies, projectiles, etc.
Audio
More upbeat, happy tunes that I'd call Mario-adjacent. There's also some decidedly Japanese songs which aren't my favorite. However, there are a bunch of Jaopanese voice samples which sound great.
