Gameplay

Has a lot of early-RPG warts, such as four-direction movement, terrible inventory, talk and look menus, etc. This game's gimmick is that you attack using a deck of cards. Yes, this is a deck builder. Each card's true meaning is only manifest by using them, so despite having an English translation, this game is basically unplayable to an English speaker. Or at least, it's too obtuse to really play. You can either randomly pick cards or choose an "auto" mode which selects for you, although this only saves time and isn't any less random than doing it yourself. As you might expect, this gets boring quickly, which makes for an unengaging gameplay loop.

Also, you'll fight the same enemy over and over again.

Level Design

Boring dungeon design and an empty overworld. Oh and no map. Ugh

Theme

Dragon Ball Z is awesome. Or so I'm told. Honestly I don't know much about it. But the colorful characters are fun.

Art Style

Primitive graphics for the most part, although the battle animations are a sight to behold. Or at least they were in 1992. Amongst RPG fans. Who hadn't played FFIV. Ok, on second thought, the graphics aren't particularly impressive at their best. But the character designs are of course top-notch.

Audio

This is probably a generous score, as none of the music stands out in any way. The battle song is exciting but grating after long.
