Dragon Quest III: Soshite Densetsu e... for SFC
Review #2090
Dragon Quest III: Soshite Densetsu e...
Gameplay
The game begins with a personality test and a "push a rock all the way across the screen several times" situation that accurately foretells the amount of mindless grining you'll endure while playing.
The rest of the game plays just like the other DQ games, which is to say that it's got all the warts of a late-80's RPG. Has not aged well.
Level Design
Theme
This one is more like an old Ultima or D&D adventure where you build a party of four class-based companions and go out adventuring. I hate this sort of setup. It's so impersonal.
Art Style
The upscaled graphics won't win any awards but are much improved from the NES originals. Nice details in the backgrounds. Sprites are primitive.
Audio
This music is a national treasure that Japan should be proud of.
