Hercules no Eikou IV
Genre: rpg - japanese
Publisher: Data East
Year: 1994
System: SFC
Gameplay Score: 4
Gameplay Notes:
Vastly improved difficulty compared to the first game. For the most part you'll just mash Attack over and over again. But hey it checks all the boxes and plays like all the other good games in the genre. It's got a modern inventory system and easy equip features.
Level Design Score: 4
Level Design Notes:
It starts with a long one-man party, which I absolutely hate, but the next objective is clear and easy to achieve. Thank you! The most awesome aspect of the design is the ability to take over and play as other NPCs. You start in a dog off and gather others as you go along. I didn't do this after 2 hours of playing but I love the idea.
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
Very cool. The game begins with a long flashback to set up the story which behind in Atlantis, then has you learning about your immortality, amnesia, and body swapping abilities in the present. Count me intrigued.
Art Style Score: 3
Art Style Notes:
The artwork is much better than the previous game but still pales in comparison to its contemporaries.
Audio Score: 4
Audio Notes:
Lovely music. Not quite top tier, but very enjoyable all the same. The songs loop too quickly tho.
