Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen'in Shūgō!!

Super Smash Dodgeball

Genre: sports - dodgeball

Publisher: Technōs Japan

Year: 1993

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

The other dodge ball games have you and the opponents randomly catching or hitting each other but this game has them hitting you every time and catching your thrown balls while you will NEVER catch one of theirs. Dumb controls where you have to press B and Y together to jump. You've got 6 buttons guys! Use them.

Level Design Score: 4

Level Design Notes:

This is more like it. Lots of modes, from tournament to a single match and as many win conditions to choose as a Smash Bros game. Lots and lots of depth in the settings available. They even have player of the game and full stats at the end. Wow

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

Generic without much personality. It's just a straight up sports game with cute sprites.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Cutesy sprites but with minimal animation. The Kunio sprites have always reminded me of Metal Slug. Actually it's probably the reverse huh? Terrible screen scrolling makes the whole experience look awful. Like it's moving at only a few frames per second. Not great at all.

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Nothing spectacular or offensive. Just kind of there.

Overall Score: 53
