Last Bible III for SFC
Review #2207
Last Bible III
Shin Megami as a proper JRPG
Gameplay
Shin Megami by another name. The combat is reminiscent of the Shin Megami games where you can recruit enemies. It seems a tad bit easier to succeed than in the mainline games. Some of the standard QoL features are here, including Auto battle and equipping immediately after purchasing weapons or armor. I've got no complaints. However, there isn't anything novel to speak of other than recruiting enemies. Definitely better than most but not top tier.
Level Design
The game takes several hours to really get going , so I didn't see a whole lot of it. What I did seems good. It feels like a standard JRPG rather than a dungeon crawler like the other games in the series.
Theme
The story is almost non-existent. Actually not non-existent, incoherent. I feel like I got dropped into the middle of a story with no exposition to explain who these people are or why I should care about them. Pretty weak.
Art Style
The pixel art in this game is excellent. I almost gave it a five but enemies in the first person view are only so so and you don't get to see your party at all which is always a bummer. But the environments look fantastic. Also the sprites of great animation in the overhead sections.
Audio
The music's okay. That if it really stands out.
