Mickey to Donald: Magical Adventure 3

Stick with the first one

Genre: action - platform

Publisher: Capcom

Year: 1995

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

No ability to run! This highlights the games very slow movement. Otherwise the gameplay is identical to the first two Magical Quest titles, which is a good thing. The powerups are nice, especially the hammer and the genie projectile. Pervasive slowdown really hurts the gameplay, unfortunately. The tower two games play much better than this one.

Level Design Score: 4

Level Design Notes:

The levels are built around the powerups, but level two is a slog. Enemies create droplets which cling to you and slow you down so much that you basically cannot move. So you have to stand and wait about 10 seconds for these droplets to get off of you. Overall, the levels are well designed just like the other two games, but this one feels subpar in comparison.

Theme Score: 5

Theme Notes:

You get to play as Mickey or Donald! I've always liked Donald more than Mickey so this is a plus for me

Art Style Score: 5

Art Style Notes:

Incredible sprite work and backgrounds. Honestly, not that much better than the first game but still excellent.

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

The music is quite a bit less impressive than the first game or even second one for that matter. It's still quite good though. And the sound effects are as good as ever.

Overall Score: 73
