Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Let's fight

Genre: strategy - turn-based tactics

Publisher: Quest Corporation

Year: 1995

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 4

Gameplay Notes:

Configuration is complex, but gameplay is simple and intuitive. My only big gripe is that the isometric view obscures much of the play area, making it difficult to maneuver to the exact spot that you want. Besides that, the complexity of building and maintaining an army can be overwhelming, but like its predecessor, I actually enjoyed it. Now I want to play the remake that came out for the Switch.

Level Design Score: 4

Level Design Notes:

I've read that this game has a punishing difficulty due to the permadeath mechanic and a capped leveling system. You'll be doing a lot of grinding in the early game in an awesome training mode. You can even make the computer What a great idea! The rest of the game is a story mode, so there's no one-shot modes.

Theme Score: 5

Theme Notes:

There's a great translation patch. Lived in, believable world with great characters.

Art Style Score: 5

Art Style Notes:

Incredibly detailed sprites and environment graphics.

Audio Score: 5

Audio Notes:

Sublime music and sound effects

Overall Score: 85
