TwinBee – Rainbow Bell Adventure

Konami's Sonic

Genre: action - platform

Publisher: Konami

Year: 1994

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 4

Gameplay Notes:

Somewhat floaty, momentum based controls. Fast movement, like a Sonic clone. Enemies are infrequent, so the game is more about platforming than anything. Feels fantastic, except when you have to do some precision platforming. Three playable characters, each have two sets of weapons, one of them is either a short or long-ranged weapon. Powerups are plentiful.

Level Design Score: 5

Level Design Notes:

Incredible design. The levels are layer and have multiple exists. Branching paths give a ton of flexibility and replayability.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Cute characters, although they're not as personable being spaceships.

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Pastel colors. A little too pastel for my tastes. Otherwise looks amazing.

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

Does Konami have a bad SNES/SFC soundtrack? The music is dynamic and fun.

Overall Score: 85
