Flash Hiders
Fighting simulationGenre: fighting - 1v1
Publisher: Right Stuff
Year: 1993
System: PCE CD
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Responsive controls, but the difficulty is too high, even on Easy. Special moves are hard to pull off. There's a counter system but I couldn't figure it out. Same with throws. Blocking makes you invulnerable so the strat is to get the other guy into the corner and wait on them to slowly wittle down their health. Enemies do the same thing to you.
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Three modes - versus, scenario, and advance. The first one is what you'd expect, but the other two are weird! It's a fighting simulation game, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Why would I want to watch a fight between two CPUs and why is that the bulk of this game? I wish I could give it points for originality, but I don't see the point of these modes.
Theme Score: 2
Theme Notes:
Deep anime story with the requisite fan service, annoying voice acting, and Japanese dialogue. Go watch a dubbed anime instead.
Art Style Score: 4
Art Style Notes:
Lovely sprites and pretty, but vacuous backgrounds.
Audio Score: 3
Audio Notes:
Music is far too quiet. It's perfectly forgettable anyway. It's hard to hear over the loud and obnoxious sounds which mostly sounds like hitting a punching bag.
Overall Score: 61
