Gameplay

Painfully slow movement. You run at about half the speed you'd expect. This makes platforming equal parts easier than usual, but also harder, because you have to account for the slow speed when dodging enemies and whatnot. It's my only complaint, really.

Borrows a LOT from Ghouls 'n Ghosts. Lose your armor when you take a hit, and die if you're hit again.

Your weapon is an extending staff which has very long range and a few extra mechanics, such as a projectiles attack by jumping, holding down and attacking. You can also use the staff as a Bionic Commando-style grappling hook. It's a bit unwieldy due to the slow pace of the game, but it's still fun to see this mechanic used in another game.

Very easy game.

Level Design

Again, borrows heavily from Ghouls 'n Ghosts. The third stage has you riding on a raft on the ocean, just like in Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts.

Overall the stages are interesting. They've got a lot of verticality, which plays well with the grappling hook movement. They tend to be sparse, but this allows you to focus on platforming or combat separately, which I like. It's not a fast paced affair.

Theme

Lots of sexy anime girls in battle armor, but no nudity. Cutscenes are overly long and full of Japanese exposition.. But the setting is basically Ghouls 'n Ghosts as a lady knight. Demons and monsters and whatnot make up the rogues gallery, so it's a good time.

Art Style

Very colorful and cheery artwork, which is actaully in violent opposition to the demonic theme. Great animations. Graphics are actually quite simple, but attractive.

Audio

Weird soundtrack. The "music" during the opening cinematic sounds like Bill & Ted before they "got better." The first level has more ambient sounds than actual music, although it's not bad. Reminds me of DoReMi Fantasy for the SFC. Other songs seem to bounce around different genres. They're all decent in isolation, but draw a strange picture when put together.
