God Panic: Shijo Saikyo Gundan
Absurdist cute-em up made by pervertsGenre: shooter - vertical
Publisher: Teichiku
Year: 1992
System: PCE CD
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Standard controls. Pickups give you weapon and speed increases. Weapon caps out at a homing fireball weapon that is never OP but takes care of most everything quickly, making this an easy game. One gripe is that you'll often encounter an enemy with extra health with no indication. In other words, two identical enemies will take different damage. Annoying.
Level Design Score: 2
Level Design Notes:
Most stages have a couple of frantic sections between long stretches of one or two enemies appearing with breaks between. Boring.
Theme Score: 1
Theme Notes:
Absurdist cute-em up made by perverts. In one stage the background is a bikini-clad woman laying on her stomach in the sand.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
Simple, flat artwork. It's colorful, but bizarre.
Audio Score: 0
Audio Notes:
Great music, but oh my...the sound effects are historically awful. Your shot gives off a comical sound but enemies taking damage give off an ear-splitting ping that will cause everyone around you to cover their ears. Take this away and I might give the sound a 4. Truly awful sound choice here.
