Hyper Marbles for MD

Hyper Marbles

Genre: arcade - n/a

Publisher: Sega

Year: 1991

System: MD

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

This is weird. You control a robotic "marble" and try to ram enemies into electrified barriers along the walls of the arena. Enemy marbles try to do the same to you and they gang up on you. Arenas are a single screen and there's not much you can do to deal with the swarming enemies. It's like driving bumper cars with you against four others. Naturally, it's maddening.

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

The only saving grace in this tiresome game is that the arenas have a little bit of variety. Not much, but enough, I suppose. Still, it's just a single screen. Oh and did I mention that there's a time limit?

Theme Score: 1

Theme Notes:

You're a ball smashing against other balls. Not exactly an exciting concept.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Nothing to see here, I'm afraid.

Audio Score: 1

Audio Notes:

Ok music that's exciting and rocking, but the sound effects are awful.

Overall Score: 27
