Kids on Site

Dorf on Construction Site

Genre: fmv - n/a

Publisher: Digital Pictures

Year: 1994

System: Sega CD

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

Perhaps the only FMV title which achieved what it set out to do. Choose from one of four construction vehicles (steamroller, excavator, wrecking ball, and bulldozer) and press B to operate the vehicle (i.e. watch a video) or A or C to cycle through three other targets. Not much to it, but you can't make a mistake so kids won't have any trouble seeing all the videos.

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

This is essentially a 30 minute slapstick comedy video involving construction equipment that's made for kids. The four levels can be chosen in whatever order you wish and all play out identically. Perfect for very young kids who have somehow been caught in a technology time warp and thus have extremely low expectations from their entertainment. Zero replayability, of course.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

The over the top humor works surprisingly well. There's an excited young woman, a brain dead dude bro, and a straight man named Nuts who is the target of every joke. Plus, the construction site setting is perfect.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

The screen only fills about half of the screen, but there's good use of color. Well, as best as the Sega CD can muster anyway. It's sub VHS quality, of course,

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Nice audio quality.
