Mad Dog II - The Lost Gold

A polished turd

Genre: shooter - gallery

Publisher: American Laser Games

Year: 1994

System: Sega CD

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Same slow reticle, but the hitboxes are generous this time around. the reload mechanic is still awful.

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

I wanted to give a 2 because there's some variety in the stages, like sudden cuts and frequent location changes, but it's still designed such that you have to know what's coming in order to get there in time. Some spots are impossible, like a quick draw encounter where your ammo is set to zero and there is NOT enough time to reload and shoot the other guy. Terrible design.

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

Silly wild west setting with atrocious acting. So bad it's good territory.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

Vast improvement over the original, but still horribly low-res video.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

There's actually some music playing!

Overall Score: 26

Review ID: 12067
