Mad Dog McCree for Sega CD

Mad Dog McCree

Mad Dog? I hate that name. I hate it! You hear?

Genre: shooter - gallery

Publisher: American Laser Games

Year: 1993

System: Sega CD

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Plays just like Crime Patrol, but with a stationary camera. The reticle is way too slow and hitboxes are too small. Some enemies fire while being completely invisible. You have to reload, Time Crisis style, which is totally awkward with a reticle. This is a deal killer in my book. It's not as bad as CP, but only barely unplayable.

Level Design Score: 1

Level Design Notes:

There are a handful of levels to choose from. Each is about 3 minutes long and includes four or five enemy animations. Once you have them memorized you can find a central point from which to rest the reticle. But again, it moves so slow that I wish you luck. I appreciate that it includes three difficulty levels.

Theme Score: 3

Theme Notes:

The Wild West. There's no more introduction necessary, really. I felt like the Pale Rider for a second there, but the terrible acting burst that bubble real quick.

Art Style Score: 0

Art Style Notes:

Wow is this thing ugly. The video is full screen, but so low-res that it's imposible to make out anything.

Audio Score: 1

Audio Notes:

No music and almost no sound.

Overall Score: 20

Review ID: 12068
