Pro Yakyuu World Stadium

NES Baseball? Is that you?

Genre: sports - baseball

Publisher: Namco

Year: 1988

System: PCE

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

As much as I love this simple baseball game, this is a few years too old for me. It's simple and plays well, but is easy to cheese it for doubles and triples on nearly every hit. Plus you'll get a hit in at least half your at-bats, which is fun and all, but takes away any semblance of a challenge. It's like playing against your 6 year old brother. Play the later games in the Famista Baseball series instead.

Level Design Score: 3

Level Design Notes:

Only 1P or 2P modes, plus a Watch mode. Why did devs include those things? Everything's in English.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Simple and nostalgic. A bygone era for sure.

Art Style Score: 2

Art Style Notes:

The character designs are basically scaled up versions of Baseball for the NES. This was a very early game and it shows.

Audio Score: 2

Audio Notes:

The music gets old quickly, as does the noise maker or whatever it is that plays. Also, the voices. So pretty much everything. Mute

Overall Score: 57
