Slam City with Scottie Pippen
Shaq Fu is not the worst license basketball gameGenre: fmv - n/a
Publisher: Digital Pictures
Year: 1994
System: Sega CD
Gameplay Score: 0
Gameplay Notes:
This is the entire scope of the gameplay: DEFENSE = Randomly press buttons and d-pad OFFENSE = Press A to shoot and hope it goes in That's it. There's no depth, no reliability, no indicator of what will work or not work. This is a game of pure random chance and not skill. Avoid at all costs.
Level Design Score: 1
Level Design Notes:
It's a one-on-one hoops game against one of four opponents. Fingers, Juice, Mad Dog, and one other. Each opponent gets their own CD, hence the 4 disc set! There's no gameplay here, and therefore no variety in the "levels".
Theme Score: 0
Theme Notes:
Why is Scotty Pippen's name on this? I don't remember him having a reputation as a street ball player. Gary Payton or John Stark or Dennis Rodman would've been a better choice. It's just your typical 90s street ball vibe with a steady stream of trash talk and cringe dialogue.
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
The video quality is good, although it's letterboxed. Your player appears as a sprite in front of the video. This looks silly, like an FMV PunchOut.
Audio Score: 1
Audio Notes:
The audio quality is good, but there's nothing worth hearing. Only a generic hip hop beat and a bunch of 90s cringe dialogue.
Overall Score: 11
