Lizard Lode RunnerGenre: arcade - n/a
Publisher: Kaneko
Year: 1992
System: MD
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Plays exactly like Lode Runner. Hit a platform tile to create a hole, wait for an enemy to fall in it, and then pound them to kill them. Clear the map and move to the next stage. A few other attacks become available like a tail whip and bombs. The controls are more tight than any Lode Runner game I've played. I actually enjoyed my time with it, which I can't say for the others. The enemy hit boxes can be unpredictable but for the most part this is a competent single screen arcade game.
Level Design Score: 3
Level Design Notes:
Nothing to knock your socks off, but the level designs have enough variety to keep it interesting.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
You're a lizard or alligator or something. Most enemies are robots. Bland but cute.
Art Style Score: 4
Art Style Notes:
Nice, cutesy pixel art that wouldn't feel out of place in a Kirby game.
Audio Score: 3
Audio Notes:
Enjoyable music which does get tiresome eventually.
Overall Score: 62
