Eliminate Down for MD

Eliminate Down
Like a dwarf - Short and feisty
Gameplay
Feels great. Three different weapons are always available and can be toggled on the fly using A or C. B auto-fires (which can be turned off) and powerups are plentiful. Speed it adjustable from the Pause screen. Enemies go down easy enough such that you feel powerful but without compromising difficulty.
My only complaints are that it's hard to tell whether or not bosses ar taking damage, and that only one of the weapons is any good. One is completely useless and the third is only useful for firing backward. So the only thing you really need to do is toggle between forward and backward, but it requires one extra click. I feel like Bond watching Boris click that pen.
Level Design
This is one of the shortest shooters I've played. Stages last only a couple of minutes and end with a quick boss. They've got some fun set pieces, like a missile attack that Contra III would be proud of and a ship-as-a-stage, but again, they're just so short!
Theme
Love the bio-organic creatures and ships. There's no cutscenese but the ambiance of this title is fantastic.
Art Style
One of the better looking shooters out there. Sprites have a chunky, meaty look. Satisfying explosions and other effects. Looks like a merging of Cybernator, Axelay, Thunder Force IV, and R-Type.
Audio
I don't usually like FM synth, but this soundtrack is a rocking good time. Sound effects stay out of the way for the most part but also have a nice crunchy quality.
