Revengers of Vengeance
The 1v1 fighter with a top-down RPGGenre: fighting - 1v1
Publisher: Extreme Group
Year: 1993
System: Sega CD
Gameplay Score: 2
Gameplay Notes:
Surprisingly decent fighting gameplay, given the game's myriad other deficiencies. Weak, mid, and strong attacks. Fairly easy special attacks. Even some parries and cancels for added depth. Laggy controls are the only real problem. Well, that and enemies seem to deal twice as much damage as you do. Sub par but not terrible.
Level Design Score: 4
Level Design Notes:
Some interesting ideas. Three modes including the standard arcade mode, a tournament, and an overhead RPG complete with shops, equipment, and side quests! I wish this was the entire game.
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
Pretty standard magical high fantasy setting, but on a 1v1 fighter! Plus the dumbest game title ever.
Art Style Score: 1
Art Style Notes:
Laughably bad artwork looks like it was drawn on MS Paint. But nice details like accurate shadows to match every frame of animation. Still, this looks terrible for a late gen title.
Audio Score: 1
Audio Notes:
Dumb music that doesn't match the setting.
Overall Score: 47
