Snake Rattle 'n' Roll
Isometric's final bossGenre: action - platform
Publisher: Sega
Year: 1993
System: MD PAL
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't like much about this games gameplay. It's isometric, to start with, but the real problem is the bizarre and unreliable eating mechanic. Add to that the way that enemies and collectibles bounce around like they're on speed and you've got a perfect recipe for frustration.
Level Design Score: 4
Level Design Notes:
It's a shame the controls and game mechanics are so awful because the level design is superb. New obstacles and light puzzles are everywhere to keep things interesting. The isometric view makes platforming insanely difficult, but you can't fault the designers.
Theme Score: 4
Theme Notes:
Love the presentation and the appealing world.
Art Style Score: 4
Art Style Notes:
Lovely Rare graphics. It's got a light Amiga look with rounded edges on everything, but without the ugly artwork.
Audio Score: 4
Audio Notes:
Rare knows what it's doing with music and sound effects.
