Toy Shop Boys
I got your toys, I'll get you all next!! No Gamma! You never!Genre: shooter - vertical
Publisher: Victor
Year: 1990
System: PCE
Gameplay Score: 3
Gameplay Notes:
Competent controls and weapons. You have three weapons that can be toggled between anytime - spread, homing, and a rotating laser sword. The other weapons act as options on either side. Powerups are plentiful, but weapons can only be upgraded a couple of times which upgrades all three. There are four speed settings which can be up or downgraded via collectables. Kinda weird, but fine.
Level Design Score: 2
Level Design Notes:
Poor stage design, but I think that's because of the intended audience. These devs thought kids were terrible at shooters because this is the most brain-dead shooter I've played. Just switch to homing, turn on turbo, and sit at the bottom of the screen because enemies never come from behind. Boring
Theme Score: 1
Theme Notes:
You're three flying kids shooting toys like RC cars, robots, Legos, and die cast airplanes. Dorky
Art Style Score: 2
Art Style Notes:
Underwhelming graphics. The sprites are ok but everything else in this Toy Story-esque world is unappealing.
Audio Score: 2
Audio Notes:
Ok music, but terrible, whispy sound effects.
Overall Score: 49
