Clay Fighter
If Tim Burton had directed Mortal KombatGenre: fighting - 1v1
Publisher: Interplay
Year: 1994
System: Genesis
Gameplay Score: 1
Gameplay Notes:
Much slower than the SNES version. Controls are laggy here. Standard SF2 controls Couldn't figure out any special moves. At least none worth using. So I just would up using standard heavy kick repeatedly. Combat didn't seem deep. Slowdown galore Fatalities like MK but not sure how to do them
Level Design Score: 2
Level Design Notes:
No mini games to break up the procession of matches Very boring stages
Theme Score: 0
Theme Notes:
Never have I ever wanted to play a fighting game as a fat Elvis impersonator. Or a clown. Or a far opera lady for that matter. Just a preposterously stupid concept.
Art Style Score: 1
Art Style Notes:
Prerendered graphics are fairly impressive but wow is this some of the ugliest artwork I've ever seen. Even worse than the SNES version.
Audio Score: 2
Audio Notes:
The music, like the rest of the game, doesn't speak to me in any way. The sound quality is quite good but again, it's a bunch of music and sound effects that I despise. The sounds of hitting and kicking are good so I'll give it props for that as well. Also, very high quality voice samples. On the Genesis!
