Gameplay

ARRGGHH! The good controls are gone. The only option is the tank-like controls that are relative to the direction your chopper is facing. I was shocked and overjoyed with Desert Strike's "From Above" control scheme and now I'm mad that they removed it for the sequel. Grrr
With the new control scheme I'm a dead duck. Everything hits me and I die so much I can't complete the first level. Huge drop in playability.
They also didn't fix the map/pause screen issue from the original. You had three years to fix it guys...come on!

Level Design

Levels are too long. At least the first one is. I can't beat it without cheats. Otherwise the same level and mission design as the original.
Unfortunately, the levels just seem empty which is weird because the first one is in Washington D.C. You'd think there would be more going on in D.C. than the middle of a desert, but I guess not.

Theme

Takes an edgy approach with your character. You used to be a nameless, personality-less pilot but now you're a too-cool-for-school hotshot with his feet up on the table during briefings. You can't even be bothered to stand at attention when the POTUS walks into the room. Yeah it's Bill Clinton bit still, show some respect.

Art Style

Great animation and crisp, clear graphics. I wish there was more going on in the stages but what is there looks nice.

Audio

No music like in the original. Voice samples are garbled.
