Snoopy Concert

Point and click platforming

Genre: adventure - point n click

Publisher: Mitsui Fudosan

Year: 1995

System: SFC

Gameplay Score: 2

Gameplay Notes:

It's best played with a mouse. Even so, the controls are not great, with you needing to find just the right spot and distnace from Snoopy to direct him where to go. Clicking to his side makes him run or walk (it's hard to know which he'll do), clicking below him makes him drop what he's carrying and lay down, clicking above him makes him jump straight up, and up and away from him makes him perform a diagonal jump of two different distances. Getting him aligned just right is a chore, but it's kind of fun. It reminds me of Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures, only significantly better than that turd.

Level Design Score: 4

Level Design Notes:

Tons of levels. They're varied and interesting.

Theme Score: 5

Theme Notes:

Snoopy! The whole Peanuts gang is here, but you play as Snoopy and Woodstock, as you should.

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Perfectly captures the catroon's look and aesthetic. The cutscenes are particularly good.

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

Groovy elevator music. Like nothing else on the system, or from the 16-bit era. Charming as could be. My only complaint is the annoying sound that Woodstock makes every time you click. It's cute at first, but after the two hundredth time it gets really old.

Overall Score: 61
