Gameplay

Plays exactly like Super Buster Brothers for the SNES, minus the slowdown. The best version of Pang of the 16-bit era.

Level Design

Some levels are a puzzle with only one successful strategy. Gotta memorize or think really quickly
Also has an endless mode which is real tough

Theme

No story, just go shoot stuff.
Characters are little kids and not ugly alien mascots like so many games of the era.
Traveling around the world is a nice touch.

Art Style

Graphics are minimal but the backgrounds are nice and not distracting. Does the job nicely.

Chirpy music. But like Bubble Bobble is extremely repetitive.

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
