Gameplay

Massive improvement over the horrible first game. Still not a great experience, but at least it's playable this go round.
Plays exeactly the same, with overhead exploration and side scroller combat.
Your attack hitbox is much better and enemy spawning and patterns are also much easier to deal with. Far fewer cheap hits.

Level Design

Just like the first game, it's a linear adventure where you go from place to place and the game basically gives you the next thing to do constantly. There's some platforming this time, but it's best to avoid it and stay grounded due to enemy movement patterns.

Theme

Honestly I didn't pay any attention to the story. NPCs have nothing useful or engaging to say. You can simply walk right throuhg each town to reach the next side scrolling stage without any interaction with the world. It doesn't even have the voice acting or animated cutscenes that were common in this genre during the CD era.

Art Style

Same graphics as the first game. They look early gen. Sprites are smaller than the first game.

Audio

The music in the first game didn't match the Middle Eastern theme, but that's fixed in this entry. It's not my favorite musical score, but at least it fits the setting.
