Gameplay

As unplayable as its predecessors. I cannot keep my car on the road. This series sucks.

Level Design

Championship, Test Drive, and a Time Attack mode that lets you practice. I still can't qualify for a race against other cars, so I don't know what that experience is like.

Theme

Tons of Japanese text, including a Dictionary of racing terms! Lame presentation which frequently presents a mugshot of an old man. Maybe someone famous from that era? Who knows.
Has faux licensing from Homda (aka Honda), Foad (Ford), Runault (Renault), Firerri (Ferrari), and other fake makes.

Simple pixel art but great sense of speed. Excellent framerate.

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
