Gameplay

Fantastic powerup system, like all the Soldier games. Not the best, but definitely up there. Four weapons that powerup twice, plus two options which can be spent as a bomb, and four homing missiles. Health is share with powerups. Selectable speed.

Level Design

Difficulty doesn't ramp up until stage 5 or 6. Excellent enemy waves. Toggle between space, terrestrial, and space station areas.

Generic but solid presentation.

Art Style

Great designs, even if they lack detail. Great effects.

Audio

Perfect sound design. No annoying sound effects. Music is upbeat and exciting, even when it isn't the best composition.

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
