Gameplay

Straight sequel to the first game, with almost not change in gameplay. Same powerup system, options, and speed control. Just more levels. The bosses can be brutal.

Level Design

Like the first game, this plays like a vertical R-Type, with interesting moments throughout. However, there are quite a few spots where nothing is on screen. Also, the stages are incredibly short. Still above average, but I think I like the first game's stages a bit more.

Theme

Great anime cutscenes between stages. The opening text crawl is all in English, but of course the voice acting is in Japanese. Still, great vibe!

Art Style

Great pixel art, even if the backgrounds are a tad boring. More of the same from the first game.

Audio

Awesome CD-quality music. The sound effects initially bugged me but I forgot about it so it's not a distraction.

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
