Gameplay
I love the simplicity of this title. There's no inventory, no complex controls, and no menuing. The gameplay amounts to clicking where you want to go, clicking on an item, and using the always on-screen musical notes to play a "draft" to apply an action to the highlighted item. You learn these drafts as you explore and you have to write them down to remember them all since the game doesn't keep a record of them anywhere.
There's minimal loading times as well. I really enjoyed my time with this game.
Level Design
The puzzle solving is best described as "verb to noun." Simple. Understandable. Far better than the obtuse nonsense in most of these point and click games. As a result it's a fairly easy game but again that's not a knock against it in my book.
Theme
It's a strange fantasy setting. You're some sort of problematic chosen one who brings tragedy to your village of wizard-like Weavers. Once you escape your solitary island you enter a world with emerald cities and magical people and places. It's pretty random but also engrossing.
Art Style
The graphics are pure DOS goodness with good animation but poor scrolling. It's choppy. The artwork is pretty but feels static.
Audio
Classical music is warm and inviting and gives a sense of grandeur to the simple goings on. However, the music cuts in and out and goes silent for long stretches.
