Gameplay

Plays a lot like Ogre Battle. Your armies are stationed in cities and can be directed to move toward and invade other cities. Battles take place when rival armies meet. You can issue orders to individual units within your army, including up to 5 infantry units, two archers, and the commanding unit. It seems to be a numbers game, but even when the armies appear to be evenly matched, my army was always routed. I assume there's some depth here, and strategy, but I couldn't find any of it. I lost over and over until the game ended with my ignominious defeat. Not fun.

Level Design

There are three factions to choose from and a continent to conquer. There are only a couple of mechanics, such as raising and training armies. I like that this doesn't bother with the politicking and resource management of the Koei games, but what's here doesn't have much depth.

Theme

Tons of cutscenes and excellent voiceover, but I can't keep track of all the long Japanese names and settings.

Art Style

The cutscenes look great but the battle sequences are way below even the early Koei titles.

Audio

Lots of excellent voice recordings. I really like the music too
