Gameplay

Plays exactly the same as the first game. The only noticeable improvement is the ability to change formation and create three predefined auto-battle settings. Simple battle mechanics that work just fine. Easy game.

Level Design

Again, just like the first game. Linear but easier to figure out what to do next. Each area looks and feels distinct, giving the world life.

Theme

Epic story - especially compared to the first game. The big bad is introduced early and looms over the plot.
a long, unskippable
Less of Working Design's juvenile humor.
Excellent voice acting in the cutscenes.

Art Style

Much improved visuals. Still tiny sprites and minimal animation, but far better details, particularly in the battle backgrounds. Not top-tier, but good visuals.

Audio

Outstanding music. Sounds effects are barely there but the soundtrack makes up for it. Voice acting is much improved over the original.
