MegaMind for MD
Review #6045
MegaMind
Wordle with signs
Gameplay
It's a guessing game, like Wordle but with a set of 7 or 8 colored tiles instead of letters. I read up on it and discovered that this is a digitized version of an old paper and pencil code-breaking game called Bulls and Cows. Neither version includes bovine, sadly.
All you have to do is create a sequence of 4 tiles in the correct order. After placing four tiles the computer will give you a flag to indicate how many are in the correct place and how many are in the sequence but in the wrong place. The buttons allow you to select a tile, change the selected space, and submit an answer.
That's the long and short of it.
Level Design
There's no design here. Well, except that there are four difficulties - 1) a set of 7 tiles, 2) a set of 8, 3) 7 but the computer will lie about 1, and 4) 8 and a lie. Why anyone would play the lie settings is beyond me.
As soon as you solve the puzzle the game ends and you're sent back to the title page. I think you have unlimited guesses as well. Play for a couple of minutes and you'll be ready to do something else.
Theme
Zero presentation. The title screen doubles as the credits and the two menus allow you to 1) pick the difficulty, and 2) choose the tileset.
I was expecting MegaMind with Minion in their Evil Lair, but alas, it's just a simple puzzle. "Okay, Minion, You were right! I was... less right!"
Art Style
Basic as can be. The four tilesets give you a tiny bit of freedom to choose what you'll be staring at, and the tiles are easily discernable from one another, but there isn't much to look at.
Audio
The song got on my nerves immediately. It's not bad but repetitive and way too upbeat for a thinking game. Mute.
