Gameplay

I'm a sucker for these simple golf games. This one's got an easy UI for picking a club, spin, and direction, and it shows the distance and recommends a club. Streamlined as could be. And striking the ball is a single click to pick the power. Again, simple. Putting is the hardest piece of the puzzle but it's manageable.

Level Design

Stroke, Match, and Tournament modes. Only one course. Holes are big and fun. Quick and easy to jump into the game.

Theme

Minimal presentation. Japanese text doesn't get in the way but also isn't helpful.

Art Style

Toes the line between realistic and cartoony artwork. The course looks good, with solid colors and clear visibility. The menus and other screens, on the other hand, look more like an early DOS game.

The song is cheery but does get old.

Includes an unbelievably annoying weight system, limiting both what you can carry and what your character can use as a weapon. If you’re overloaded, you are unable to move. After buying a few things at the weapons shop I thought the game was broken. I had to Google it and read about this weight mechanic. So stupid. It makes the game nigh unplayable. Even with a minimal inventory of a knife, a helm, and two food rations I could barely walk.
