Hook for Sega CD

Image: MobyGames

Hook

The SNES version is still the best.

Genre: action - hack n slash

Publisher: Sony Imagesoft

Year: 1993

System: Sega CD

Gameplay Score: 3

Gameplay Notes:

Slow movement and animations but good sweeping attack radius Predictable enemy movement Overworld is nice to see how you've progressed

Level Design Score: 5

Level Design Notes:

Well thought out levels make use of the flying mechanic and the limitations of your movement

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Art Style Score: 4

Art Style Notes:

Wonderful graphics but with muted colors. Thye took the SNES version and lowered the saturation until everything was colored orange. I was tempted to drop this all the way down to a 3 because it looks that badly compared to the SNES version, but the artwork is too good. No improvements from the Genesis game, surprisingly.

Audio Score: 3

Audio Notes:

Voice acting is new in this version. Tinkerbell makes me want to gauge my ears out. Terrible sound mixing. The music sounds amazong, but the sound effects are way too loud and are tinny and annoying. It's a shame because the music does sound wonderful.

Overall Score: 73
